ARC Data Shows Passenger Trips Also Increased Nearly 5 Percent in July
ARLINGTON, Va. – August 20, 2018 – Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) announced today that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by U.S.-based travel agencies increased nearly 11 percent in July as compared to July 2017, totaling $7.7 billion vs. $6.9 billion.* The average U.S. roundtrip ticket price for July 2018 was $485, up $11 from the same time in 2017.
The total number of passenger trips settled by ARC for U.S. travel agencies increased nearly 5 percent to 24,202,477 compared to 23,066,639 in July 2017. U.S. domestic trips increased approximately 3 percent while international passenger trips increased nearly 8 percent.
Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD)** sales in July 2018 comprised $6.4 million, a 30 percent increase compared to July 2017. EMD transactions increased 36 percent to 118,511 in July 2018 vs. 86,981 in June 2017.
