ARC Enhances Memo Analyzer with Additional Standard Reason Codes

Latest Contribution by 14 Carriers Grows Total to 130 Unique Codes

ARLINGTON, Va. – August 14, 2017 – The Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC), the premier driver of air travel intelligence in the travel industry, today launched a new version of Memo Analyzer—a business intelligence tool that provides insight into debit and credit memo performance. The enhanced tool includes the second phase of ARC’s debit memo reason code standardization effort.

In January, ARC announced that nine carriers had mapped their debit memos to the new reason codes that were developed over the past two years by the ARC-led Debit Memo Working Group. Now, an additional 14 carriers have mapped their debit memos in Memo Analyzer. There are now more than 130 unique memo reason codes in the tool. The codes include commissions, credit card chargebacks, fares, taxes, refunds, exchanges, fees, bookings and miscellaneous. Additional carriers will be mapped throughout 2017.

“Until recently, every carrier used their own reason codes for debit memos, making it difficult to properly categorize memos and ultimately identify root causes,” said ARC Product Manager, Tracy Young. “This iteration of Memo Analyzer marks the latest effort by ARC to validate and improve the memo reason standards which will help reduce debit memos for both the product’s users and the industry as a whole.”

Additional enhancements to the tool include major improvements of the user interface, simplified navigation and updated graphics to streamline user interaction. More fields have also been added to the data details page for enriched reporting and customization options for customers.

More information about ARC Memo Analyzer for agencies and for carriers is available online.
