Beware of Phishing Emails

Fraudsters continue to send phishing emails in the travel industry. Some emails request that the recipient click on a link that will take the user to a web page to fill out banking information or other sensitive information. Another type of phishing email request can be that the recipient needs to click on an attachment. The attachment may have malware that will then download to your computer. As a result, a fraudster may now be able to control your computer remotely.

Here are some ways you can protect your business from phishing emails:

  • If you don’t recognize the sender, DO NOT click on the link or open the attachment.
  • Hover your cursor over a link to see where the web address link will take you. If the link does not resemble the sender’s company name, then DO NOT click on the link.
  • If while hovering your cursor over a link shows only an IP address, DO NOT click on the link.
  • Not all links are malicious. Many businesses routinely send legitimate emails with embedded links, but take care to review the URL before clicking on a link.

Please report all fraud incidents to ARC’s Risk Management team at stopfraud@arccorp.com or call toll-free at 855-358-0393.
