With National Wellness Month celebrated in August, ARC recognizes the important role health and wellness play in the workplace. Proudly supporting employees’ health and wellness goals, ARC has a variety of wellness programs, wellness challenges and company-wide events throughout the year that encourage employee well-being.

Breonna Washington, Senior Total Rewards Specialist

“ARC’s wellness initiative provides employees with the tools and support they need to be healthy and well. Whether their goal is to lose weight, have more energy, manage stress or improve their diet, we want to make sure there are helpful tools and programs in place,” said Breonna Washington, senior total rewards specialist at ARC. “The healthier and happier employees are, the more engaged they become, which fosters a positive, thriving work environment.”

One of the many ways ARC promotes and prioritizes employee wellness is through Virgin Pulse, which tracks employee health and wellness progress, features fun challenges and resources for all aspects of personal well-being.

Lori DeFabio, Product Owner

“ARC prioritizes our holistic well-being in various ways: health and wellness, work/life balance, learning and development and more, but the physical challenges are what I find the most valuable and engaging. Using the Virgin Pulse app allows me not only to challenge myself physically but allows me to connect with other ARC employees. It’s a great way to engage with each other—still working together but not on normal day-to-day, work-related projects.”

Karen Didden, Marketing Intel Analyst

I’ve always been an active person and my goal is to continue to remain active and healthy as I get older. My favorite aspect of using the Virgin Pulse app within ARC is what’s called the journey feature, which allows users to make small, incremental changes in their daily activities and provides evidence-based information behind how these small daily changes impact your overall health in a positive way. It’s encouraging that ARC invests in employees’ health and wellness regularly. Between all the challenges, webinars and incentives, it really shows they value every employee and their well-being both In and out of the workplace.”

Mike Heckerman, SQ Engineer III

“Eight years ago, I learned that my left anterior descending artery in my heart was 95% blocked, and I had to have a stent placed. Following such a serious health event, ARC’s wellness program incentivized me to stay on track with my personal goals for a healthier heart. ARC is consistently focused on employees’ quality of life and achieving a healthier work-life balance, which is one of many reasons why I’ve worked at ARC for nearly 30 years. I also believe there is nothing better than good old competition in the workplace—an added benefit to participating in employee challenges. Achieving goals like the companywide 630,000-step challenge really gets the endorphins moving.”

Bill Jones, Security DevOps Engineer

“Having been sidelined by an injury for a few months in 2015, I gained a lot of weight in a short amount of time due to limited mobility. I felt like I was able to make positive changes to my health by participating in ARC’s health and wellness challenges. I enjoy seeing live data telling me where I stand on the leaderboard while working with the entire company. I believe that ARC’s health and wellness perks are some of the most significant.”

Christine Klizas, Sr. Settlement Operations Analyst

“The challenges in the Virgin Pulse app create a support system since we encourage each other to keep moving. A little competition is always fun and the challenges, as well as my fellow employees, motivate me to be active on days where perhaps I may not have been. We sometimes forget to consider and prioritize our own wellness, and this is a gentle reminder to do it and not feel guilty. I am proud to work for a company that prioritizes health and wellness.”

Shital Sabne, Director, Product Management

“I always considered myself active but didn’t know much about my diet or how to adopt a healthy lifestyle. For example, I didn’t know the number of steps I took daily but since using the Virgin Pulse app with ARC, I have become more aware and health conscious. Companywide challenges have helped me connect with so many ARC teammates that I don’t interact with on a regular basis, and it has helped me feel connected with the ARC’s culture, which I love. It is important for me to work for a company that prioritizes employee health and wellness, as it not only makes employees stay more productive and helps their careers, but it also helps them in their personal life.”
