In conjunction with ARC Fraud Awareness Month, Episode 4 of the ARC TravelConnect Virtual Series welcomed Andrei Barysevich, CEO and co-founder of Gemini Advisory, to shed light on what he’s learned about cyber-criminal activity on the dark web throughout his extensive career and how it impacts the air travel industry.

Barysevich provides a detailed account of how fraudsters and criminals target, access and sell a company’s or person’s data. From a travel perspective, he says that agencies and airlines are no different from other ecommerce sites as far as their vulnerabilities. For those involved, it’s important to use common sense and engage well-known parties when fraud is suspected.

He also believes ransomware is the number-one threat to businesses from a cybersecurity standpoint.

He closed the discussion with steps to take to prevent fraud before it happens, and what you can do to protect your data and ensure survivability of your business in the event of a cyber-attack.
