Director, Finance

Maria Isabel Monteiro (“Isabel”) is the Director of Finance for Air France and KLM in the United States. In her role, Isabel is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting operations for the United States, Canada, Mexico and French Polynesia, including but not limited to accounting practices, corporate taxes, financial planning, financial analysis, debt/treasury management and monitoring of financial performance. In addition, she has advocated and executed multiple process automation initiatives to bring about efficiency to the company’s finance operations. She has led project implementations such as the companies’ new accounting system, new cargo billing system, CONCUR and DECLAREE-platforms used for employee expense reimbursements.

She has been able to do this on the back of a successful track record of leading the finance team to deliver challenging goals under demanding timelines.

Over the past two years, she has been working with Amsterdam and Paris headquarters to transition the accounting activities to the centralized shared service centers located in Budapest, Hungary, and Pune, India.

Isabel began her career with the company in 1983 as a check-in agent at JFK International Airport. Since then, she has held various management positions while based in New York. She loves the airline industry and has over 25 years of experience in finance, accounting and project management. She holds bachelor’s degrees in computer science and finance.

Isabel was born in Portugal, raised in France, and at age 16, took the journey to the United States, where she has been happily living since. She speaks several languages, loves music and dancing, and enjoys traveling.

Isabel has served on ARC’s Board of Directors since 2013. She is a member of AFAMA (Airlines Financial & Accounting Managers Association).
