Average Round-Trip Domestic Ticket Price Remains Effectively Flat
ARLINGTON, Va. – April 22, 2019 –Airlines Reporting Corp. (ARC) announced today that the consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold in April 2019 by U.S.-based travel agencies increased 6% compared to April 2018, totaling $9 billion vs. $8.5 billion.* The average U.S. round-trip ticket price was $499, virtually flat when compared to April 2018.
The total number of passenger trips settled by ARC for U.S. travel agencies increased 4% to 27,721,382 compared to 26,636,678 in April 2018. U.S. domestic trips increased 4.2% while international passenger trips grew 3.9%.
Electronic Miscellaneous Document (EMD)** sales in April 2019 totaled $8.5 million, a 23.7% increase compared to the same period in 2018. EMD transactions decreased by 4% year-over-year.
